The fencing series examines realizing the worth of queerness in the rural South. It consists of pieces crafted from a portion of my fence that was blown down by a hurricane—a fence from the first home I bought with my partner.

A gift of free material offered a mirror to examine myself: broken planks, weathered forms, freshly exposed wood underneath the aged skin. Understanding your worth, despite forces that would have you believe otherwise, is a moment of clarity. In a method of kintsugi, I celebrate the beauty of my body as a gay man from South Ga.
